The PicoCell can power single-phase or three-phase pumps at 115 or 230 volts and 50 or 60 hertz. simply by selecting the correct DIP switch combination that corresponds to the AC pump's characteristics. Because the PicoCell architecture is firmware-based, it can "adapt" the power to accommodate the initial power spike required to start an AC motor.

PicoCell makes it much easier to design, purchase, and install a solar pumping system. By modeling an integrated system that contains functionality that would ordinarily be serviced by a complicated mix of system components such as an inverter, variable frequency drive, MPPT controller, voltage boost, and phase initiator (for 3 wire motors). All of this capability is housed in a single integrated device the size of a standard tissue box.
