The SD2 Solar Direct Aerator is a complete, off-grid aeration system designed for ponds up to 2 acres. Powered entirely by sunlight, it delivers high-volume aeration without batteries, utility power, trenching, or an electrician.

Built with high-quality American-made components, the SD2 combines a brushless DC rocking-piston compressor, a proprietary digital motor controller, two stainless-steel DB36 diffusers, and 300 feet of self-weighted airline. The system begins operating in very low light and automatically increases output as available sunlight increases. Its rugged, powder-coated steel enclosure is designed for long service life and straightforward pole-mounted installation.

Should You Add a Second Solar Panel?

The single-panel system provides approximately twice the power required for full compressor output under moderate light. A second panel does not increase compressor output on a clear, sunny day and does not increase the recommended pond coverage. It can, however, substantially extend daily runtime and improve operation during dark overcast weather, rain, snow, or partial snow cover.

Installation Requirements

The customer supplies a 3-inch nominal Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 steel mounting pole with a 3.5-inch outside diameter. Plastic pipe or tubing must not be used as the mounting pole. Final diffuser placement and airline routing should be selected to promote effective circulation while accounting for pond depth, shape, and site conditions.
